yoga position

I believe that much of the wonder of yoga can be lost if it is made either too esoteric or too physical, and that striking the balance between the two provides a source of balance for us all.

Classes and one to one

What can you expect from a yoga class

Yoga classes traditionally last for 90 minutes and include gentle ‘centring’ preparation building to more strenuous asana followed by a period of quiet for pranayama (breathing practice) and relaxation or meditation. All asana have modifications ensuring that they can be safely performed. The style of class varies; sometimes there are flowing sequences and at other times postures are held for increasing lengths of time.

What will you need?

You will need a yoga mat and 2 yoga blocks. It is also useful to bring a blanket.

Some classes require additional kit – 3 more blocks, 1 yoga brick and a yoga belt. You will be advised when you enrol for a class.  All equipment can be purchased from Fulcrum Yoga, or if you prefer, from various online dealers.

Fees

All classes are taught on a termly basis and require the participant to sign up and pay for the whole term – with the exception of Nia which is a drop in class and costs £5. Depending on the length of the term fees vary from approximately £70-£90 per term. Terms usually run for between 10-13 weeks and reflect the Wiltshire school terms.

No refunds can be given for missed classes and I am not able to offer ‘drop in’ classes for Yoga or Pilates. It is sometimes possible to make up missed classes by attending a class at a different time or day if there are places available.

Please email me or call 07505 142285 if you wish to come along to one of my classes.

One to one yoga

Traditionally yoga was taught on a one to one basis where the development of the student could be strictly monitored and tailored to individual needs. This is still seen as an important way to explore Yoga.

Individual lessons are available for people with specific interests or needs where the advantages of working individually would be more beneficial. Your need might be: Stress management, exercise and fitness, a specific remedial focus, wanting a practice for meditation, development of pranayama (breathing) and so on. Individual lessons provide the opportunity to offer detailed modification of asana to suit a students personal needs, firstly to respect their limitations and then to stretch their abilities.

An initial meeting is arranged so that the needs and ambitions of the student can be discussed. A practice is then designed for regular use at home. Lessons then take place every 4-6 weeks to monitor practice and to ensure development and progression.

The home practice plan can vary from a short 10 minute practice, perhaps twice daily, to more than an hour’s single practice, depending on its role and how much time the student is able to make available. It is usually around 20 to 45 minutes.

Individual 60 minute lessons cost £40.
